Buy-to-Open model
Opening Science. SMF is proud to work for making its books and journals more and more accessible to everyone. It is illustrated by the following recent changes in the OA policy of the Society:
● Buy-to-open (B2O) for books: since June 2022, the books published in the series Cours Spécialisés, Panoramas et Synthèses and Séminaires et Congrès are freely available (free download) when enough items of a given volume are sold. It is worth highlighting that the volumes released before 2020 already are freely available.
● Subscribe-to-open (S2O) for journals: beginning with 2023, Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France (the oldest journal edited by SMF) is adopting the S2O model. Each year, if enough subscribers continue to support the journal, Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France will be free to read by everyone and with no author charges.
We are excited to have found sustainable models for the Society that strengthen its partnerships with mathematicians, public institutions and everyone willing to support SMF!
